I'm not sure I'm ready to let this one go, but here it is!
Solid wood dresser painted in oxford navy with Rifle paper découpage drawers. I've been holding on to this dresser for oh my gosh...I think almost 8 or 9 years. I had found it at a yard sale of one of my parents neighbours. It was a sad little thing, super solid but with layers and layers of glossy brown paint (insert puke emoji)! And so while it had potential, it stayed hidden away for years. Apparently, all it was waiting for was the year 2020 and a global pandemic to strike me with inspiration.
For it's 2020 debut, the top of the dresser was wood grained using multiple layers of whites, greys and beiges then clear and dark waxes. The body was painted oxford navy then washed with graphite to give the colour depth. For an extra bit of fun, I used rifle paper that I had been hoarding to découpage the top drawers and hand drew leafy branches on the inside of the drawers. I just can't resist running my hand over the surface every time I walk by.
Every piece of furniture is one-of-a-kind and all sales are final.
It's very important to appreciate that most items I choose to refresh and redesign are second hand or vintage. The patina and character created by their previous life are often why I choose to work with a particular piece and remain part of its charm. History and imperfections are to be embraced and celebrated!
While always providing high quality professional work, my pieces are all hand-painted therefore quite different than a factory and mass-produced finish. All items are original creations and strive towards a more sustainable and slow moving life.
Thank you for supporting creativity and originality!
